DESCRIPTION: WA-120 Fast Track Wall Tile Adhesive is a hybrid cementitious formulation for interior and exterior installation of stone and ceramic tile over walls.  It’s an economical yet dependable adhesive for all projects. There is no installation down-time as tile may be grouted 1 hour after placement. Adhesive is applied 1/8” x 1/8” x 1/8” u-notched trowel so coverage is double that of average thin-set mortars and adhesives.  Applications of 3/8” thick marble, granite and porcelain will not slip using 1/8” x1/8” x 1/8” trowel. Application is as easy as using premixed adhesive yet provides the water resistance of a thin-set mortar. Joints of backer boards may be filled and evened whil you work saving costly prep time.

AREAS OF USE

LIMITATIONS: Do not directly to Luan plywood, particleboard, wood paneling, metal, fiberglass or OSB panels. Do not use with underwater applications or areas exposed to hydrostatic pressure.

SURFACE PREPERATION: General Surface Preparation: Surfaces must be structurally sound, clean, dry and free from grease, oil, dirt, curing compounds, sealers, adhesives or any other contaminant that would prevent a good bond.  Concrete or plaster must be fully cured. Surfaces should accept water penetration in order to form a good bond.  Test by sprinkling water on various areas of the substrate. If water penetrates, then a good bond can be achieved.  If water beads, surface contaminants are present and loss of adhesion may occur. The contaminants should be removed before installation. Glossy or painted surfaces must be sanded, stripped and cleaned of waxes, dirt or any contaminants. Surfaces and materials should be maintained at a temperature above 50F (10C) or below 100F (38C) until adhesion cures.

EXISITING CERAMIC TILE: Substrate must be clean and free from contaminates. Roughen the surface by mechanically abrading with carborundum stone. Rinse and allow to dry. When sanding we recommend the use of an approved respirator.

MIXING: Fill bucket with cool wter to line marked on side of bucket. Add powder and mix until a smooth lump free consistency. No slake required. Can be used immediately.

APPLICATION: Using a flat side of trowel, apply skim coat of adhesive with appropriate size trowel. Apply additional adhesive with notch side of trowel held at a 45 degree angle to the surface, combing in one horizontal direction. Press tile firmly into place in a perpendicular motion across ridges, moving back and forth about 1/8” – ¼”.
Perpendicular pressing flattens ridges and closes valleys allowing maximum coverage. With some tile, back buttering is advisable. Adjust tile promptly and beat in with block and rubber mallet. Periodically pull up a tile and check the back to ensure complete coverage with the adhesive. Do not apply more adhesive than can be covered with tile in 10 minutes.  If adhesive starts to skin over (not sticky), re-trowel before setting tile

DRYING TIME: Allow a minimum of 1 hour drying time before applying grout. Cure time can be greatly increased in high humidity or when temperature is below 60F (16C).

CLEAN UP: Remove fresh adhesive from tile surfaces with a damp cloth. Clean tools in warm soapy water. Do not clean tools allowing mortar to flow into the drain pipe system.
