- Prepare substrate to a flatness of 1/8-inch deviation in flatness over ten linear feet.
- All substrates must be original, clean and free of pre-existing finish products, dimensionally and structurally sound.
- Installations over substrate panels such as gypsum board must be taped, filled smooth and cured prior to tile installation.
- Acclimatize tiles, adhesive, substrate and installation area to a minimum of 70° Fahrenheit. Ensure that each tile is sufficiently flat on the backside, before placement, allowing full transfer of the trowel notch pattern of adhesive spread on the substrate to the tiles. Tiles that do have curvature from the carton should be restacked outside of the carton in the inverse direction of the curvature and allowed to become flat. It may be necessary to restack all tiles in this manner 24 hours prior to the installation.
- Prepare the WA120 adhesive in the manner described on the label.

- Using a 1/8x1/8x1/8-inch U notched trowel, apply adhesive to the substrate in a bond and scratch method, using the straight edge of the trowel to apply a bond coat followed with the notch side to form troweled ridges. Spread only enough adhesive that you can cover within 5 or ten minutes. (The absorbency of the substrate and the Relative Humidity affect the curing times and wetness of the adhesive.)
- Immediately place tiles into the wet application of the adhesive. Place all tiles in a butted joint fashion. Press tiles into troweled adhesive maintaining a uniform plane of installed flatness. Use a lightweight rubber mallet to beat tile or roll tile faces using a hand roller if necessary. Immediately wipe up smears of adhesive with a water dampened wiping cloth.
- Cut tiles using a wet saw. Towel dry tile and clean of saw silt.
- Final set of tiles placed into adhesive should occur 1 hour after placement. Final cure should occur within 24 hours.
- Protect exposed installation perimeters, such as corners, edges and tops with wood trim or other suitable material.
